Hours a week to become fairly good

How many hours a week should one practice to become quite good and what timeframe you think?

For beginners : The main thing that you'll need when going to socials is a good frame and a decent knowledge of how to lead things.

it’s best to learn to enjoy the journey and not worry about the destination.

I think the most important thing that beginners miss is to do lots of social dancing.

In my opinion you should practice as much as you want/can as long as you're still having fun.

Progress is not linear and I think the following cocktail works well to improve:
- Regular classes – 2-3x week.
- Socials – 2-3x week. People who are only taking classes and never going to socials are not improving as much as they could
- Listening to music outside of class. help to make your brain used to the music
- Crosstraining other dances (Salsa, bachata, Zouk, Kizomba, Ballroom) You might hit a plateau in your learning curve, and this might just be the thing to make you jump to the next level
- Practice with a dance partner - it's good to be able to try moves you're struggling with and ask that person for feedbacks about your leading, her comfort, etc.
- Go to festivals/congresses when you'll feel like it - You'll meet a lot of new teachers, a lot of new dance partners. It's a great experience.
- Continue watching videos, enjoying the socials, the classes, etc. Have fun!
