January 2021 Hodgepodge

Lori Fiechter here on the other side of 2020, that is 2021. It's been awhile since I've made any new videos--my heart just hasn't been in it. My elderly father was in hospice in December and died two days after Christmas. And then we planned a trip next month to Florida to get away. So I've been distracted. In fact, today Stan asked me if I'd ordered seeds yet and it hadn't even dawned on me. Too many new gardeners last year because of Covid = seed shortages on certain, easy-grow plants. I'll have to shop locally for lettuce and zucchini seeds. And I'll have to forgo some of my favorites this year. If you haven't ordered seeds yet, take my advice and hurry up!

On the baking side, I am still making sourdough breads. I have a quick photo of the finished product today: mini baguettes. These were flour, water, starter, and salt. Next time, I'll add just a T. of olive oil. Crusty, crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside. Cut in half for garlic toast or hoagie sandwiches, they'll be wonderful!
