Just Say The F Word

Is the left too timid about using the word "fascist" when describing right-wingers? Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Donald Trump, and Tucker Carlson all seem to fit the criteria to meet the definition of what a fascist is. So why not just say it?

Hey, MR crew I just wanted to talk about it. What's your name where are you calling from? Oh yeah yeah sorry. My name's MJ and I'm from Maine. And I'm a YouTuber. I just made a big video essay about fascism. And I wanted to talk about the right's response to you know the recent tragedies and like Uvalde and buffalo and stuff. Because to me, it's really like at a point where like at what point are we going to stop using some of these euphemistic labels like right nationalists and identitarians and just call these people fascists? Because I think that all the characteristics are there. Do you know? I mean I don't know that I would disagree with you. But what particular utility do you think there is in saying fascists at this point versus that I mean I'm just asking I don't I mean I don't feel strongly about it one way or another, to be honest with you. I might come up with a third one. I'm not even sure what it would be. But what utility do you think is there at this point? Well like I said my video essay about it was like 80 minutes I've done a bit of research on this. it's just my name, it's MJ Convey. Okay. I had to break the video essay into two parts but mean like if you look at the description is like 3 000 characters because of all the sources I cited. And I just feel like there's been a bit of a concerted effort to kind of obscure what fascism is. So like a lot of Americans know that fascism is bad but they couldn't necessarily define it outside of its most notorious examples. And so I guess for me the utility of just calling like a Marjorie Taylor Greene or a Lauren Boebert a fascist would just be that it would get people thinking about it a little bit more. And maybe like trying to do some of their research. Of course like there are always pitfalls there. Because the right is very good at creating its information pipelines that lead people in the wrong direction. But I feel like until it's been tried we can't say that it can't work.
