How to Make Italian Sodas

Italian Cream Soda's are made with sweet syrups, cream, and club soda. They are delicious and festive drinks for any special occasion, even if the occasion was just a hot day working in the garden. In this video Marie and Emmaline from Wisdom Preserved teach you how to make Italian sodas.

Italian Cream Soda's are a family favorite at our (Emmaline's) house. We keep Torani syrups in our favorite flavors on hand and my kids get so excited when we pull them out to make these tasty treats. There are several brands of syrup that work for this recipe, not just Torani. It’s also a lot easier to find the syrups than it used to be! Your grocery store will likely have at least a few flavors in the coffee section as well as the mixed drink section. Home goods stores also tend to carry several flavors in their gourmet kitchen items sections. Locally, I buy mine at Smart Food Service Warehouse a Restaurant supply and bulk food store.

In high school, these drinks were all the rage to go pick up at the new fandangled drive-up coffee stand. The first one opened the year I turned 16 and I loved being a new driver and able to pull up in my beast of a car and make an order and pay for it with my checkbook. I was so excited to drive my own car that I purchased with my own money, writing checks from my brand-new bank account, that I deposited my own hard-earned money into, from the awesome job I had after school and on weekends.

That's right, I was playing at being an adult.

This homemade Italian Cream Soda recipe makes super tasty sodas your family is sure to love as much as mine.

It is such a simple recipe:

Put 1 cup of club soda in your glass.

Add 1/2 cup of flavored syrup. (We used watermelon.)

Next, add 1/4 cup of cream. We used fresh cream but you can use store-bought as well.

Finally, deposit 1/4-1/2 cup of ice into your glass. Really this is according to taste. In our video, we did this step in the beginning but ran out of space. So, we revised our recipe and recommend keeping this for the last step. Stir and enjoy!
