Assault suspect injured during takedown by Washington DC Metropolitan Police

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at approximately 5:00 am, uniformed Seventh District Officers responded to an assault that ha just occurred at 3130 Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast. When they arrived on the scene, they found a semiconscious victim suffering from lacerations to their head laying on the floor inside.

An individual on the scene of the assault attempted to leave the premises. The officers told the individual that they were not free to leave. The officers attempted to escort the individual away from the door and place the individual in handcuffs. The individual actively resisted the officers' efforts to place the individual in handcuffs. The officers struggled with the individual and eventually had to take the individual to the ground. Additional officers arrived on the scene and the individual was handcuffed.

While in the Seventh District cellblock, the individual complained of pain. The individual was transported to a local hospital and diagnosed with a fractured wrist and mandibular (lower jawline) fracture.

The individual was arrested and charged with Assault with Significant Bodily Injury, which occurred on the victim in the apartment.
