Masoor Dal (Spiced Red Lentils)

Ingredients
1 cup Masoor Dal
2-3 tbsp Oil
1 onion, chopped
3-4 garlic cloves, minced
1” Ginger, minced
2 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp Garam masala
1 cup chopped tomatoes
Salt to taste
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin seed

Instructions

1- Heat oil , sauté onion
2- Add cumin seed, cook for 2-3 minutes
3- add turmeric, Garam masala, coriander powder, chili powder, ginger and garlic paste,
4 -add the mixture to the lentil
5- Add 4 1/2 cups of water
6- Cook uncovered for 25 minutes or until lentils are soft
