Surrendered Japanese Arisaka Type 99 rifle overlooking downtown Chattanooga. This rifle was built in early 1944 before the “last ditch” guns started being produced later that year. This rifle has no cut corners and is a fine example of Japan’s manufacturing capabilities in the 1940’s. This beautiful example had it chrysanthemum ground off the receiver before being surrendered to the United States at the end of WWII. It also features a sniper height flip up sight lead outfitted with a marvelous peep sight. This is the “long” version of the Type 99 with a 25” barrel (some say 23”, depending on where you measure. This rifle is a piece of American and Japanese history. #shorts
