The 100 Year Amnesia

How did we forget how to survive on this planet that we dominate? How silly?! Since the Neolithic period we have been growing our own food and surviving off the land. It was a time of settlement. It was the end of hunting and gathering and constant migration.

However, something happened in in the early 20th century. The industrial revolution gave way the age of radical convenience. This was a time where businesses and services, combined with powerful marketing agencies, started convincing human beings to give up their ability to grow their own food, power their homes, protect themselves and have any connection with the dirty, grimy world, whatsoever.

It was the beginning of an age of isolation. We could have never known the effect that convenience would have had on us. Flash forward 100 years and we find a human population, in America, that is starting to wake from its coma of convenience. We are experiencing the effects of a 100 year amnesia.

Somehow, in 100 years we lost touch with the skills and the WAY, the human path, that has kept us alive through the nightmares of history for thousands of years. Yet in just a breath of time we have become addicted to what is packaged and boxed, to cheap and easy.

When the pandemic hit, people realized just how vulnerable they had become. But how astounding what a species can forget in just a matter 100 years!
