Lately I`ve become a big fan of Jim Ringer. He would often perform and record with Mary McCaslin. He sang folk songs and country songs. Bugler is a song I think he wrote but not sure. It`s a song about a boy and his Dog. Anyway I sing and play it on the guitar.

Buglar - Jim Ringer - lyrics

Back when cattle creek used to sing, the water was sweet and the banks were clean and sunny days went on forever.

Well me and ol` Buglar we run wild, a blue kick hound and a red neck child. Thought that we were birds of a feather.

The fish would bite, my how they`d bite and we`d catch possums in the pale moonlight for Nora, just to please her.

Ol` Buglars voice like Gabriels horn, up through the cypress and down through the corn, are golden sounds I`ll always treasure.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

One day Nora brought the news, says honey ol` Buglar`s gone and paid his dues. Got hit by a car down on the highway.

You dry your eyes and stand up straight. Buglar`s got a place at the pearly gates. Say goodbye now sugar, say goodbye.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Goodbye now Buglar, you think I`m gonna cry about you? You never was nothin` but an ol` mongrell hound dog anyhow. Never could catch nothing but possums. I`m practically grown now, I can get me a good dog. Goodbye Buglar.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.

Buglar, Buglar bless your heart, Jesus gonna take you on a chariot ride, say goodbye, say goodbye.
