When You Don’t Know What To Do

1. We All Face Times of Desperate Need - 2 Kings 4:1

4. God Fills Only What We Offer - 2 Kings 4:5-7

In our lives sometimes we want something so badly, but nothing seems to happen.

Single adults want a mate but the right one just never comes along, spouses cry out for their mate to change but nothing seems to happen, we look at bills and get discouraged and wonder – when God, when are you going to do something for me.

We get so discouraged and feel like it is too hard to even pray and care so much all the time. It is just easier to give up.

Now realize this, oil in scripture is often a picture of the Holy Spirit. Get this, when we don’t hold up our hurting empty places up to God ----- He doesn’t fill them.

So, when you don’t see God doing something in your life, ask, “What empty place am I holding up to God to fill?”

We can talk about how we need some help but honestly how much do we really get down on our knees and cry out to God.

We think if God would only bless me with health and wealth than I would be really happy to serve God right back. But, that isn’t how God works.

God wants you to cry out to be filled, it’s about your heart, not your stuff. We all face times of desperate need, God needs only what we have, God does only what we can’t and God fills only what we offer.

Today, is your life like an empty jar?
What is the empty place in your life?
Is it your family? Your finances? Your health?
Your faith?

Right now what is the empty place in your life?

Application:

What is the empty place you need to hold up to God right now?

What is the point of desperate need that you have?

Maybe you have a family member that needs to know Christ but they seem so far from Him.

When there were no more jars the oil stopped. If you want God to work you have to lift an empty jar to Him.

You are not alone, we all have desperate needs.
Right now, let’s hold up that empty place to God.
