Howitzer M777 155mm Made in America
The footage begins with an aerial view of a Ukrainian howitzer being pounded by Russian projectiles and Ukrainian troops fleeing in fear.
The second part of the footage ends with the howitzer being pulled into the forest to avoid detection, but the area is then also bombarded by Russian artillery.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that its attack drone, backed by artillery, destroyed the Ukrainian firing position of the US-made 155mm M777 howitzer near the settlement of Podgornoye, Russia's state-owned news agency — Tass reported.
“In the residential area of Podgornoye, a team of Russian unmanned aerial vehicles and artillery reconnaissance systems established the firing position coordinates of the US-made 155mm M777 howitzers used by the Ukrainian military. The operator of the unmanned aerial vehicle sent a missile strike into the firing position from the American howitzer battery, damaging several weapons," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry further confirmed that the Ukrainian fighters were hit by artillery fire as soon as they concentrated the prime movers and weapons in the forest. All American equipment and howitzers were reportedly destroyed.
The latest attack can be considered a positive development for Russia, as the Ukrainians appear to have been wreaking havoc on Russian sites in recent days, blowing up targets with their new M777 howitzers.
The M777 is a 155mm field howitzer manufactured by BAE Systems. It can release Excalibur guided shells and has an effective firing range of 40 kilometers.
It is one of the latest US arms shipments to land in Ukraine as part of military aid. In addition to the United States, Canada, Australia and Germany are said to have delivered M777 Howitzers to Kyiv.
According to a senior Pentagon official, dozens of Ukrainian military personnel have completed training in the new US-supplied weapons. "An increase from about 200 [trained personnel] a week ago," the officer said, adding that 310 soldiers were trained on the US-made M777 howitzer.
More than 50 Ukrainians are currently being trained, and the United States has started a new two-week maintenance training course. A senior Ministry of Defense (DoD) official stated a few days ago that about 60% of the 90 howitzers scheduled for delivery are in Ukraine, along with 155mm ammunition.
