CHP rescues a hiker that suffered a medical emergency

This afternoon CHP H-32 responded with CAL FIRE/Napa County Fire Department, AMR Napa County and St. Helena

City Fire to a report of a hiker suffering a medical emergency on the Oat Hill Mine Trail.

CHP H-32 arrived overhead and with the GPS coordinate provided by Cal Fire Dispatch, H-32 was able to locate the patient on a remote trail. H-32 lowered a crew member to the scene and placed the patient in a rescue harness. H-32 returned overhead and hoisted the patient from the trail at approximately 125 feet.

The patient was flown from the trail and transferred to a waiting AMR ambulance. The patient was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
