Cleveland Benedictine grad and current Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Justin Layne was arrested early Friday morning in Lake County.

In a report released Friday, Willoughby Hills police say an officer was conducting traffic enforcement on I-90 East when he observed a Dodge Charger approaching him at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed with a handheld laser that the Charger was traveling 89 mph in a 60 mph zone. Dash cam video released by the Willoughby Hills Police Department shows how things unfolded.

When the officer pulled over the Dodge Charger, the driver identified himself as Justin Layne and identified himself as a professional football player. Police say it was later confirmed that he plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The officer found that Layne was operating the vehicle with a suspended license, and that Layne had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure appear on a traffic violation in another city. Layne was taken into custody.

Willoughby Hills police then say officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, after allegedly observing "loose marijuana particles strewn throughout the vehicle, as well as the odor of raw marijuana," according to the press release. A loaded pistol was also found in the center console, and Layne does not have a concealed carry permit in the state of Ohio.

Layne is charged with Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, a fourth degree felony. He was also cited for traffic violations. He was arraigned Friday morning and bond was set at $5,000 recognizance. Layne's next court appearance is scheduled for April 29.
