Based on data compiled by Okezone, Friday (7/12/2018), the heavy metal music genre was first conceived by the hard rock band in the 1960s, Steppenwolf, in their song entitled Born To Be Wild. The term was not used properly until in 1970, Black Sabbath released their debut album entitled "Black Sabbath". Their musical playing is controlled by riffs that are more blues in nature and are often referred to as classic metal.

Not long after, Judas Priest also helped develop this genre by eliminating blues elements and relying more on distortion, faster beats, and harmony. Until the late 70s, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) music genre emerged, which was pioneered by Motörhead. NWOBHM combines Punk and Heavy Metal.

The development of heavy metal is also increasing rapidly. In the 80's, NWOBHM bands such as Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Venom, and Diamond Head started to enliven the international music industry until finally heavy metal mixed with Pop music and gave rise to the glam metal genre. It is this genre that has allowed the metal scene to break through to the top music charts and spread faster around the world.
