Nashville police are pursuing an assault suspect who fired several gunshots at an officer early Tuesday morning.

According to Metro police, Michelle P. Hill, 61, is wanted in connection with gunshots fired at MNPD Sergeant Michael Willis at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Delta Avenue and Cheatham Place.

MNPD released body camera footage, which showed two gunshots were fired in the vicinity of Willis by an unidentified man after Willis asked the suspect where he was going.

Police say the man who fired at Willis had fled from a Chevrolet Impala registered to Hill.

Willis was unharmed, according to police.

Police said their involvement in the case began at 4:05 a.m. when a citizen called to report that a topless woman had run up to his car on Interstate 24 West at the Jefferson Street exit, and yelled that a man tried to kill her. The woman had gotten out of a Impala, according to police.

A citizen watched as the Impala pulled into a grocery store parking lot at 800 Monroe Street. The driver got out of the car and ran away, according to MNPD.
