Do you think you are saving money by making beer at home? I thought so and that's what I told my wife when I first started homebrewing and that's what I keep telling her.

To calculate your break even point you will need to solve for the amount of batches it would take to pay off your equipment. First, you need to subtract the sum of your fixed costs from the cost of craft beer in the open market. Then divide by the cost of your homebrewery assets.

Subtract the sum of the cost of goods (G), the cost of utilities (U), and the cost of labor (L) from the cost of the equivalent amount of Craft Beer (CB). Then divide that by your cost of brewery assets (A).

(G+U+L-CB)/A = X

Your break even point is how many times you need to brew to pay off your equipment.
