District 1 deputies responded to calls to check the welfare of a family sitting on a corner of US 19 in the Hudson area. When deputies spoke with the citizen, he told deputies he was working to find stable housing and provide for his family. After talking with him about resources in the area, the deputy then offered to take the family to a nearby store to get supplies for the family. The citizen and his two children headed to the store with two deputies, while another deputy watched the family’s belongings so they didn’t have to bring them across the street.

Deputies purchased the family over $275 worth of groceries, hygiene items and even a few toys and nail polish for the kids. Despite the deputies’ shift being over, they also offered to take the family to where they were staying so they could get their supplies back safely. As one deputy mentioned during the encounter, PSO deputies are here to assist in any way they can. Additionally, another citizen stopped to offer supplies and assistance to the family while deputies were helping them, truly embracing the spirit of #WeFightAsOne, whether it’s combatting crime in our community or just lending a helping hand to those in need. Yet another citizen saw what the deputies were doing and tagged us in a social media post, thanking the deputies. We’re #PascoProud to serve our citizens and deeply grateful for the support of our community!
