Elderly hiker safely recused by CHP after a medical emergency

This afternoon CHP H-30 responded with East Bay Regional Park District Eagle Helicopter, and San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District to a report of an elderly hiker who was experiencing a medical emergency on a trail.

Eagle found the hiker near the Alameda County line and directed H-30 to the hikers location. CHP H-30 lowered a San Ramon Valley Fire District Paramedic to the hiker, where he assessed the patient and prepared the hiker for removal.

The hiker was hoisted approximately 80 feet and placed into H-30 where he was then transferred to a waiting San Ramon Valley Fire District Ambulance for further assessment and treatment.
