A Stanislaus County man is dead after deputies say he crashed into their vehicles on purpose.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department released the video from the department's helicopter and bodycam video from the deputies on the scene.

The incident started at 7:45 p.m. Monday, June 14th on Hickman Rd in Denair, a small community near Turlock.

The purpose of releasing the video is to show:

"Mental health situations are rapidly evolving, traumatic, and very dangerous for all those involved."

The sheriff's office received a call from a woman saying her husband was suicidal wanted to harm himself with a knife.

When the helicopter arrived on the scene, they could see the man identified as 39-year-old Javier Cueto-Aldaz standing in a yard by a car.

They say he picked up a rifle from the hood of a car and started pumping it, like a pellet or BB gun.

After a couple of hours of trying to negotiate with the Cueto-Aldaz, they say he loaded items into a truck and took off.

While driving down the road at speeds reaching over 100 mph, he rammed marked patrol vehicles that were blocking the road.

Deputies pulled the man from the burning wreckage and began CPR.

Cueto-Aldaz was taken to the hospital where he died from his injureis.

No law enforcement personnel were injured.
