The entire site of the Azov Steel plant complex in Mariupol has been liberated, the Russian Defense Ministry announced Friday. 2,439 people who had been surrounded for nearly a month, including Ukrainian soldiers and members of the neo-Nazi Azov unit, laid down their weapons and surrendered.

"The last group of 531 fighters surrendered today," Russian military spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement. He added that a total of "2,439 Azov Nazis" and Ukrainian servicemen had laid down their arms since May 16 and that the entire Azov Steel complex was now under the control of Russian forces
