Yesterday at approximately 6:45 pm, the California Highway Patrol Solano CHP Area was advised that the Solano County Sheriff's Office was in pursuit of a felony vehicle on Interstate 80.
Shortly thereafter, CHP Dispatch advised that deputies terminated their involvement in the chase due to the suspect driving in a reckless manner.

In the area of I-80 and Highway 12, ground units from CHP - Solano observed the vehicle continuing on westbound I-80. CHP H-30 arrived overhead and began to follow the suspect vehicle allowing all ground units to terminate their involvement.

The suspect continued to drive in a reckless manner and at times with speeds at over 120 mph. With the assistance of Golden Gate Communications Turquoise and Maroon Dispatchers, H-30 broadcast the suspects location to responding officers.

In the area of I-80 and Pomona, in Contra Costa County, the suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided with the center divide at speeds of over 100 mph. At the time of the collision there were no law enforcement officers behind the vehicle. Two passengers from the vehicle fled on foot and were detained from officers from the CHP - Solano office. The driver was located in the driver's seat unconscious.

CHP H-30 landed in the center divide where a CHP Flight Officer/Paramedic from H-30 provided medical aid. The driver was treated, packaged and transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek by H-30.

The Solano Sheriff is investigating this incident.
