Overnight in the Daytona Beach area, deputies were set up on a perimeter on a call involving a stolen vehicle. Around 3:30 a.m., an SUV approached the perimeter, ignored a deputy's instructions to find another route, and then fled at high speed.

For about the next 40 minutes, the driver fled recklessly around the Daytona area as Air One monitored from overhead.

Eventually, after a successful stop stick deployment by a deputy, the SUV came to a stop, and the driver took off running for another 10 minutes until finally giving up.

It was discovered the SUV was reported stolen out of New Smyrna Beach. The driver, 20-year-old Joshua Cummings (DOB 4/29/2001) of Ormond Beach, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence and driving without a valid license.

Cummings, who was found to be on probation for grand theft of a motor vehicle, was additionally charged with violating his probation.
