On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to NW Gainesville Road in reference to multiple stolen vehicles. During the investigation, Deputy Karr reviewed the surveillance video, which showed a vehicle pull up to the location and one suspect load-up a pickup truck on the property and drove away in the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle they arrived in left as well, however they came back and stole a white F350 that was pulling a trailer with a John Deer backhoe on it. Deputies and the victims were able to locate one of the stolen vehicles abandoned and later located the criminal's vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Ocala Police Department's jurisdiction.

Cpl. Ray observed a white F350 driving in the 1300 block of North HWY 314A, he believed this was the stolen vehicle. Once confirmed, he attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle fled. The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Robert Daniel Dean, had no regard for anyone's safety as he tried desperately to get away. As everyone knows you can't hide from our eye in the sky...or from karma because this thief got himself stuck in the mud. "YES!"

Dean was taken into custody which also revealed his license was suspended for fleeing a police officer back in July of 2020. Dean has been charged with 2 counts of Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property, DWLSR Habitual, Flee and Elude, 2 counts of Violation of Probation.
