On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) responded to a call about a domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On July 21, 2021, the FCSO responded to a weapons complaint in the area of Seasbury Place in Palm Coast. The reporting party stated that his neighbor discharged a pistol into the ground in front of his residence, advising a similar incident also occurred two days prior. At that time FCSO was unable to make contact with Oleksandr Podolskyy (DOB1/29/1995), but made contact with a family member who was able to successfully make contact with him. Upon the family member speaking with Podolskyy and advising him to speak with law enforcement, he refused and became upset, becoming verbally agitated with the family member.

Upon questioning the neighbor, it was discovered that after the firearm was initially discharged on July 18, Podolskyy told the neighbor he’s “making sure it’s working, they get rusty, you know.” The neighbor explained it was against the city ordinance and Podolskyy said, “Let me tell you something, I like guns and I like to fight, you understand me?” The neighbor also stated that Podolskyy has previously made threats against law enforcement. At that time Deputy’s did not have enough evidence to make an arrest.

On July 27, 2021, FCSO responded to a call in the same area of Seasbury Place about a possible domestic disturbance that occurred the previous night.

The victim advised that Podolskyy was extremely agitated for an unknown reason and the victim attempted to get Podolskyy to calm down. They separated for a short period of time and Podolskyy decided to leave the residence to go to the gas station. When Podolskyy returned another verbal argument occurred and parties separated again. Later in the evening, Podolskyy approached the victim again and became physical. Podolskyy took the victim’s phone and stated she was not allowed to contact anyone.

After the altercation, Podolskyy walked outside with a firearm and began pacing around the home. After he came back inside another physical altercation occurred with the victim and a firearm was tapped multiple times against the victim’s head while Podolskyy threatened to kill her. The following morning the victim was able to leave the residence and contact law enforcement.

Upon the victim’s report of the assault, patrol units conducted surveillance on the residence to ensure Podolskyy did not leave or come outside to hurt anyone. A search warrant and arrest warrant were obtained for Podolskyy and the residence. On the evening of July 27, 2021, the FCSO SWAT team responded to the residence to take Podolskyy into custody and help serve the search warrant.

“This situation was very dangerous for the victim, neighbors and deputies,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This guy had multiple firearms he was unlawfully firing and then decided to assault a victim and threaten to kill her. The SWAT team did a phenomenal job planning and executing this operation, with the understanding that this guy had threatened law enforcement. I’m glad no one was hurt and I hope the Judge’s keep him locked-up before he hurts someone. Domestic violence is not tolerated in Flagler County and I’m thankful the victim had the courage to report the assault.”

Podolskyy was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He’s being charged with Domestic Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Tampering with a Witness. He’s being held on a $25,000 bond.
