Bingo Testifies @ BOE Meeting

On May 19, 2022, the BOE had a hearing on selecting a candidate for the permanent school superintendent position. A number of concerned parents and vocal advocates for child choice on wearing the mask or not while attending school showed up in full force. There was also a very organized setup of school principals there to testify on Keith Hayashi’s behalf. From Niu Valley to the Big Island, they lined up to praise Keith Hayashi one by one which isn’t surprising because Keith had advocated for a pay raise for all HIDOE personal.

The crowd was frustrated because everyone got the impression that this was no democracy, that in fact, Keith Hayashi had been pre-selected from the start and what we were witnessing here was a dog and pony show. Ultimately only one BOE member voted Against selecting Keith Hayashi.
