The Hughes County Sheriff's Office has released body cam footage from the latest traffic stop made involving South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg.

In a post made to the agency's Facebook page, the department announced they'd be releasing the unedited body cam footage from Ravnsborg's Aug. 22 citation for speeding.

The incident took place days before the state's top law enforcement officer took a plea deal for two misdemeanor charges that each carried sentences of up to 30 days in jail and up to a $500 fine.

The charges stemmed from an incident in which Ravnsborg struck and killed Highmore resident Joe Boever, while he was driving home to Pierre from a Republican fundraiser late on Sept. 12, 2020.

The video is more than nine minutes long. Ravnsborg tells the officer that pulls him over he was going to "take his recyclables away."

"I don't have my license on me," Ravnsborg tells the HCSO deputy when asked for some documents.

The officer takes Ravnsborg's registration paper and issues him a citation for going 57 mph in a 35 mph zone. At no point did the attorney general mention his name or his position to the officer.

The Aug. 22 citation was Ravnsborg's seventh speeding ticket since 2014.
