More Seeds Started for the Spring Garden — What did we Plant?

Spring is approaching ever so quickly and so today we are starting our second round of seeds for our spring garden. The first round of seeds we started a couple weeks ago (video linked below) are doing great in our little greenhouse tent and we are very optimistic that these will go well, too. It won’t be much longer before we break ground on our garden and our seedlings can be planted; more on that later.

There are many different ways to start seeds for your garden. With the space and materials available to us and with the research that we’ve done, this is how we chose to do it. A soil blocker is a very handy device that takes loose soil and turns it into seed-ready block. Once your seeds are placed in the block lightly cover them with loose soil and place in a greenhouse or any other warm area that gets a lot of sun (like a window in your house). We placed our seeds in our little greenhouse.

• Clemson spineless okra
• Long pod Perkins okra
