The Midnight is a synthwave band composed of Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Los Angeles-based Danish-born producer, songwriter, and singer Tim McEwan.

The Midnight é uma banda de synthwave composta pelo cantor e compositor de Atlanta Tyler Lyle e pelo produtor, compositor e cantor dinamarquês de Los Angeles, Tim McEwan.

The band was formed as a result of Lyle and McEwan meeting during a co-writing workshop in 2012 in North Hollywood, CA. Inspired in part by the score for Drive, and the retro synth genre growing around its release, the pair wrote two singles, "WeMoveForward" and "Gloria", that would be released two years later in 2014 as part of their debut EP titled Days of Thunder. In 2016, the duo released a 12 track LP, Endless Summer, followed in 2017 with the release of Nocturnal, which spent several weeks as a best seller on the music distribution website Bandcamp and reached number 17 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic charts in October 2017. The band went on to perform their second sell-out concert, taking place at the Globe Theatre on Broadway in Los Angeles in November 2017. The band had multiple collaborations with Timecop1983, another retro synth genre producer. One of the collaborations appears on the album Nocturnal, titled "River of Darkness". The other collaboration between them appears on the album Night Drive of Timecop1983, titled "Static".

A banda foi formada como resultado do encontro de Lyle e McEwan durante um workshop de co-escrita em 2012 em North Hollywood, CA. Inspirados em parte pela trilha sonora de Drive, e o gênero de sintetizadores retrô crescendo em torno de seu lançamento, a dupla escreveu dois singles, "WeMoveForward" e "Gloria", que seriam lançados dois anos depois, em 2014, como parte de seu EP de estreia intitulado Days do Trovão. Em 2016, a dupla lançou um LP de 12 faixas, Endless Summer, seguido em 2017 com o lançamento de Nocturnal, que passou várias semanas como um best-seller no site de distribuição de música Bandcamp e alcançou o número 17 nas paradas Dance/Electronic da Billboard em outubro de 2017. A banda passou a realizar seu segundo show com ingressos esgotados, ocorrendo no Globe Theatre na Broadway em Los Angeles em novembro de 2017.
