Columbus’ Police Chief is speaking out for the first time publicly about the two narcotics officers busted a week ago today for dealing drugs. Top cop Elaine Bryant was fielding questions at a Metropolitan Club event downtown Tuesday.

“We are extremely disappointed. We are embarrassed about what has occurred,” said Bryant.

Video of CPD cartel unit officer Marco Merino being arrested at John Glenn International Airport last week was just released.

Merino and fellow narcotics' officer John Kotchkoski are alleged to be involved in the sale and distribution of almost eight kilos of fentanyl in a federal case.

“So if these allegations are proven to be true, we will hold every single person accountable for anything they are found to do that are not within the standards of this division, period,” said Bryant.

Both officers Merino and Kotchkoski have been ordered to remain in jail pending trial. Chief Bryant said there’s an internal audit being done within the department.
