Video shows suspect dragged along road by his getaway car after police pursuit

Dramatic footage captures a suspected burglar being dragged along the street by his getaway car after a police pursuit.

The dashcam recording shows three men fleeing from a white SUV before one of the crooks fails to make it out.

He can be seen pinned against the back door of the car as it speeds away from police in Bury, Manchester.

His feet can be seen dragging on the road and his shoes flying out from his feet as the driver flees at high speed.

The six suspects in total were taken to custody on suspicion of offences including theft, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article.

The suspects were fleeing in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they were snared as part of operation Dynamo Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit.

Acting on intelligence and public reported cops in unmarked cars are targeting vehicles suspected of being involved in a broad range of crimes - particularly thefts, burglaries, and robberies.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Our Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit patrol in unmarked cars day and night is working to target vehicles suspected of being involved of a broad range of crime - particularly thefts, burglaries, and robberies.

"Across the Greater Manchester area they act on intelligence and reports from the public to continue to try and drive down vehicle-related crime in the region - under the codename Operation Dynamo.

'If you have any information or suspicions about vehicles in your area, then report it to us online, if able, or via 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

According to Office for National Statistics there were more than 265,000 burglary offences and over 46,000 knife-related cases in 2021.
