Hey Good Lookin' (Hank Williams, 1951). Live cover performance by Bill Sharkey, Home Studio, Hawaii Kai, HI. 2022-05-26. "Keeping the Oldies Alive"

"Hey Good Lookin'" was Hank Williams' third entry onto the Billboard chart and third consecutive no. 1 hit landing at the top in 1951 and remaining at that position for eight weeks (Whitburn, 1986, 2013). It has been recorded by many artists over the years. His own version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001 (country-music.fandom.com, 2022), and in 2003, Country Music Television (CMT) voted his version No. 19 on CMT's "100 Greatest Songs of Country Music" (Wikipedia, 2022). Other artists who charted with Williams' song include: Jimmy Buffet (2004, no. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and no. 8 on the Hot Country Songs chart) (Whitburn, 2013), The Mavericks hit no. 74 on the Top Country Singers chart in 1992 (Whitburn, 1994).

Lyrics:

Hey, hey, good lookin',
Whatcha got cookin'?
How's about cookin' somethin' up with me?
Hey, sweet baby,
Don't you think maybe
We could find us a brand new recipe?

I got a hot-rod Ford and a two-dollar bill
And I know a spot right over the hill.
There's soda pop and the dancin's free,
So if you wanna have fun come along with me.
Hey, good lookin',
Whatcha got cookin'?
How's about cookin' somethin' up with me?

I'm free and ready,
So we can go steady.
How's about savin' all your time for me?
No more lookin',
I know I've been tooken.
How's about keepin' steady company?

I'm gonna throw my date-book over the fence
And find me one for five or ten cents.
I'll keep it 'til it's covered with age
'Cause I'm writin' your name down on every page.
Hey, good lookin',
Whatcha got cookin'?
How's about cookin' somethin' up with me?
