Couple Struggles to Operate Shower in a High Rated Hotel

Info from Licensor: After a long day of travel we wanted to freshen up at our hotel in Rome, Italy. My girlfriend complained that the shower was impossible to use without getting soaked in freezing water, I decided to try and was equally confused as to how it was meant to be used. I work as a "User Experience" Designer and therefore often think about how we interact with everyday objects and try to explore how one could make something easier to use. I thought this shower was hilarious in how unexpected its behavior was and couldn't really get my head around why anyone would build something like it or who would ever want one.
