This afternoon, CHP H-30 responded with Marin County Fire Department to a report of an injured mountain bike rider near the Manzanita Trail in Marin County.

H-30 arrived overhead the area and with GPS coordinates provided by Woodacre Dispatch, H-30 was able to locate the rider lying off trail.

H-30 landed near the scene and contacted the rider who was in thick brush. With the assistance of Marin County Firefighters, the patient was extracted from the brush and packaged for transport.

The patient was loaded into H-30 and flown to John Muir Medical Center with serious, but non life threatening injuries.

According to the rider, he was riding downhill on the trail when his brakes failed causing him to fly off of the trail.

The 17 year old patient is going to have a long recovery ahead but is in good spirits.
