CHP assist Contra Costa Sheriff's that's pursuing a carjacking suspect across the Bay Bridge

On the evening of Feb 02, 2022, Golden Gate Air Operations Airplane (Air-37) was requested to assist with a call of a carjacking suspect traveling eastbound across the Bay Bridge.

Along with CONTRA COSTA SHERIFF-OFFICIAL PAGE helicopter “STARR 1,” Air-37 arrived overhead as the suspect vehicle fled eastbound on I-580. The vehicle continued at speeds in excess of 100 mph, while ground units followed behind at a safe distance. The suspect vehicle continued onto State Route 24, reversed course on State Route 13, and eventually transitioned onto westbound I-980.

Once on I-980, CHP ground units were able to catch up to the suspect vehicle, where it yielded to the shoulder and all occupants were taken into custody without incident.
