Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness - Human Campaign - Mission 14 (FINAL): The Great Portal

After destroying the center of the Orcs' command at Blackrock Spire, the remaining Horde armies retreat to protect their entryway into Azeroth - The Dark Portal. In the name of the dearly departed Lord Lothar, we must honor his memory by destroying the portal and claiming total victory over the Horde! However, this will be a very difficult fight from the get-go. First, you must destroy a group of cannon towers and catapults on the beach with only one Battleship and two Destroyers to bring your troops to an orange village full of Ogre-Magi armed with Bloodlust. Only once you kill them can you start establishing your base. However, you'll want to build up your defenses very quickly because you'll immediately be harassed by a bunch of white Dragons. There is also a trap involved with the orange base, where they will unleash three Dragons of their own if their entire base gets destroyed. The black army to the east doesn't attack much, but will occasionally harass you by sending a Death Knight to use Death And Decay on your towers. The best strategy I can think of for this mission is to turtle in your base until you can amass a horde of Gryphon Riders and then send them up around the top of the map straight to the Dark Portal. If the previous mission was the hardest mission in Tides of Darkness, then this would probably be number two.

However, Warcraft 2 is not done yet! Next Monday we're going Beyond the Dark Portal into the expansion content!
