Bodycam footage of trooper involved shooting on I-10 near Marana that left one person dead

Bodycam footage of Feb. 7's trooper-involved shooting on Interstate 10 that left one person dead was released by Marana Police Department Thursday evening.

At around 4 p.m. Feb. 7, 48-year-old Anthony Parker of Hood River, Ore. was reportedly stopped by a DPS trooper near Interstate 10 and Orange Grove Road in reference to a "person to locate" call from the Yuma area.

According to MPD, a stand-off between Parker and the trooper occurred after law enforcement officials learned that the 48-year-old was reportedly armed with a firearm and had intentions to harm himself.

After an hours-long standoff, Parker was shot by the trooper and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.

In a video briefing released by MPD on Thursday, the department shared that the troopers were advised that the suspect allegedly "made statements to his girlfriend that he would kill himself after making contact with his youngest son."

According to MPD, DPS made a request for a psychologist and a negotiator to speak with Parker after the troopers located the 48-year-old's vehicle. However, the law enforcement agency was unable to contact Parker through his phone, MPD said in the video.

During the standoff, responding law enforcement officers reportedly were informed that Parker's girlfriend told dispatch that she believes he will commit suicide by cop.

MPD said prior to firing two rounds at Parker, DPS troopers observed parker putting his firearm in his mouth multiple times and pointing his firearm out the window.

The department identified Sgt. Neil Brooks as trooper who reportedly shot the 48-year-old.
