On February 18th, 2022, the Atlanta Police Department’s Air Unit (Phoenix) assisted Georgia State Patrol and East point PD with tracking a white Jeep Cherokee. The driver escaped from officers after a failed stop, where he crashed through several officer vehicles and continued his run.

Phoenix followed overhead, providing patrol officers real time directional updates and invaluable observations of the fleeing suspects. The suspects made their way from the Camp Creek area to 369 McDaniel St., where the driver of the Cherokee crashed into two parked vehicles, before jumping out of the car and fleeing on foot.

Both suspects were caught, and placed in custody, after a short foot pursuit. Atlanta Police assisted with taking custody of the passenger of the vehicle, who was charged with obstruction, however, the driver was charged accordingly by East Point Police.

We are proud of the work of our Air Unit; their skills in the air are unmatched. This unit is invaluable in crime fighting-the video footage speaks for itself. We are glad our team was able to help our law enforcement partners catch these brazen and reckless individuals.
