Learn the rules to the party game Snaps quickly and concisely - This video has no distractions, just the rules.

RULES:
The object of the game is to get the other players to correctly guess the name of the person you are thinking. Pick one player to be the first snapper who thinks of any person’s name, such as a celebrity. Once the snapper has a name, they start by deciding if they are going to be spelling the name directly, or spelling a clue about the name. If they are spelling the name, they begin the round by saying “Snaps IS the name of the game”. If, however, they are going to be spelling a clue, then they begin the round by saying “Snaps ISN’T the name of the game”.

The snapper uses clues and snaps to spell out individual letters towards the hidden name or clue. For consonants, the snapper will say a sentence or statement where the first word starts with the same letter that you are trying to spell. For example, if you choose “George Lucas,” your first letter is a “G.” You’ll clue the receiver into the name by starting with a sentence like “Got milk?” This lets the receiver know that the first letter of the person or the clue is “G.”

For vowels, you snap your fingers. Each vowel corresponds to a specific number of snaps. "A" is one snap, "E" is two snaps, "I" is three, "O" is four, and "U" is five snaps. To continue the example, for the second letter of “George Lucas,” you would give two snaps for an “E.” then you would pause and give 4 snaps for an “O”.

There is no cue for a space.

If you aren’t spelling the person’s name, you must spell out a clue. For the example of “George Lucas”, you could spell out “Star Wars”. This is what that might look like: “Stormy weather is coming.” “Take a breath of fresh air” [1] “Rise up from the ashes” “What day is it?” [1] “Right or left?” “Supper is ready”.

Once the other players have figured it out, they guess the word. The first player to guess it correctly, becomes the next snapper.

Alternatively, you can play this game as a mental trickery game where two people use the game play as a code in communicating to each other to guess the name the group picks. In this instance more unrelated and random the clues the better it.
