Notes on 'Five in the Warehouse' by Kickin' Rocks 2000

these raw, rough cuts capture the artifacts of the dog days of
being in a band.

not a recording session, or a performance, this is the
coming together with material you've freshly learned
as individuals with your bandmates; and this coordinating
of parts and arrangements can often be grueling work.

it is in these times where bonds among musicians may
also be forged & fortified, as many times the first or second
attempt at a piece doesn't end well, and several future attempts
will be necessary before the feelings of gratification and
satisfaction with their mastery of a particular song emerge.

i treasure these recordings because, in my experience, you
don't always get the opportunity to finish what has been
started. there's life, death, marriage, divorce, etc., etc. so,
these takes are nowhere near perfect, but i honor having
these 'progress reports' as an enduring record of what was
accomplished.

thus, this collection is dedicated to bob (bebop], paul, & chris
and all of you in collaboration with others. i have not worked
with a greater team, and i'm humbled & grateful to have shared
our time!
