Councilman Joe Harrison said Wednesday that he filed a police report against city clerk Matthew Conlon for alleged harassment.

The East Ward legislator went to City Hall on Tuesday to talk to the clerk about walking on a resolution to the upcoming docket.

He said Conlon got aggressive and yelled at him, saying he wasn’t allowed to walk on the measure.

Looking to avoid the confrontation, Harrison said he left the clerk’s office and called council attorney Edward Kologi from the City Hall parking lot.

The councilman said Conlon followed him and stood behind him menacingly with his fists balled up, as if he was readying to fight.

Police were called to City Hall for a reported fight and took statements from both men. No arrests were made.

Harrison mentioned past scrapes when Conlon grew aggressive with him but finally had enough and reported the clerk’s behavior to police as harassment on Wednesday.

“I don’t want to have any interactions with him,” the councilman said. “I’m just tired of it.”

A Trenton Police spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a phone call seeking more information.

Conlon, who was hired in August 2020, has been involved in multiple skirmishes with city officials throughout his tenure as clerk.

He asked multiple law enforcement agencies to investigate Mayor Reed Gusciora’s administration as part of an alleged racketeering scheme.

He filed a police report for harassment against a Trentonian reporter in November 2020 for calling his cell phone for comment on a story.

The clerk has repeatedly claimed the newspaper conspired with city officials to retaliate against him for blowing the whistle on alleged corruption at City Hall.

He filed a lawsuit against the city and The Trentonian, seeking $3 million in redress.

Meanwhile, an outside law firm found credible evidence that Conlon sexually harassed three female employees in his office.

Council president Kathy McBride and vice president Marge Caldwell-Wilson expressed no confidence in the Maley Givens law firm report and want to conduct their own probe into their six-figure hire’s misconduct.
