Man armed with scissors in the hospital is fatally shot by deputies

According to Sheriff Eric Flowers, a 29-year-old man was brought to the clinic on March 25 after attempting to hang himself, as well as cutting his legs and wrists.

Four deputies were on site when the man grabbed a pair of scissors and ran throughout the hospital around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

After deputies gave chase, he turned and raised the scissors at them, according to Sheriff Flowers. That is when deputies shot and killed the man.

"This man was definitely intent to either commit suicide by cop or hurt somebody inside of the hospital." said Sheriff Flowers. "Nobody wants to take a life, our folks definitely don't want to ever have to do that, but in this instance they were so close to him and he was charging at them with these sharp scissors that they had no choice but to do what they did."
