Officer rescues driver who drove off the road into a creek

Emergency crews responded to this one-vehicle crash on Hwy. 46 East at Lake Church Road. According to preliminary Georgia State Patrol reports, a 17-year-old female was driving this 2005 Jeep Liberty at 9:45 a.m. Monday when she went off the road, landing in the waters of 15 Mile Creek. The driver was transported to Candler County Hospital for treatment and was issued a citation for failure to maintain lane.

Candler County Sheriff’s Office, Metter Fire-Rescue and the wrecker crew from Randy’s Wrecker all responded to the scene. The Jeep was lifted from the water by a towing crane.
