After a brief foot chase, a felon suspect armed with a gun is arrested

Our Zone officers put in work all day, every day, keeping the city safe. On April 7, 2022, at around 7:45 PM, an alert, Zone 2 patrol officer observed a male, he knew had a warrant for his arrest, standing near a parking lot.

The officer approached the male, advised him of the warrant and the man immediately took off running. The officer gave chase, and the male was apprehended a short distance away. A search of the bag the man was carrying revealed a loaded handgun. Officers observed the serial number for the weapon appeared to have been scratched off and was unreadable.

The male was discovered to be a convicted felon. He had outstanding warrants for Probation Violation and Aggravated Assault. He was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Criminal Use of an Altered Item, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement.

We again highlight the awareness of the officers involved in this incident and applaud their quick response and safe apprehension of this suspect. Our streets are safer with APD officers on patrol. Job well done.
