Officers with the Seattle Police Department’s Harbor Patrol rescued two adults and a child from a rowboat that was seen whipped by the churning waves on Lake Washington on Wednesday.

The child was the only one wearing a life jacket as the trio’s boat drifted toward Interstate 90, according to officers. They were unable to make it back to shore.

After rescuers pulled the trio from the boat, they were checked out after being exposed to the cold water.

A Washington State Department of Transportation camera showed just how choppy the waves were.

KIRO 7 later found out that a second small boat with two people tried to save the trio before rescuers arrived. However, those people needed rescuing too.

Despite all the danger, everyone made it out OK.
