In this episode of Know Your Stuff, we interview climate and environmental scientist Jonathan Foley, who is the director of Project Drawdown, an organization focused on climate solutions. We talk about Project Drawdown and what it considers to be the best solution to the climate crisis. We also examine the criticisms of the solutions that super rich people like Bill Gates are proposing to deal with climate change and whether they will solve the climate crisis. Finally, we explore what we can all do now to contribute to a more sustainable future, rather than waiting for our politicians to take action.

Jonathan Foley is a climate and environmental scientist, sustainability expert, author, and public speaker. As Director of Project Drawdown, he focuses on understanding our changing planet, and finding new solutions to sustain the climate, ecosystems, and natural resources we all depend on. Prior Foley led the California Academy of Sciences—the greenest museum on Earth—and dedicated 15 years at the University of Wisconsin, where he founded the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment. He has published over 130 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including many highly cited works in Nature and Science. He is among the top 1 percent most-cited scientists in the world.
