This week on Sunday Longplay, I'm playing something I've wanted to do for a long time now, and what better time than Zelda's 35th anniversary to do it? Welcome to the Zelda 2 Randomizer!

I've been getting into Zelda Randomizers ever since the Keysanity update to the Super Metroid + A Link To The Past (SMZ3) combo randomizer, and I have reached this conclusion. Not only is Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link one of the most brutal Zelda games ever made, but it also has the most evil Randomizer. While the Zelda 1 and A Link To The Past randomizers keep the familiar world map the same, this is not the case for the Zelda 2 randomizer! Here, the overworld itself is randomized so you pretty much have to find your own way around Hyrule and make a new map in your head each time you play it!

For this randomizer seed, I'm playing with Max Rando settings. This means that if anything can be randomized, it is randomized. This includes random starting items, starting spells, starting heart containers, maximum heart containers, number of lives, starting techs, palace shuffling across continents, random enemy encounters, random enemy HP, randomly changing enemies that steal XP and how much XP they steal, randomly changing enemies that are immune to the sword, randomly reconstructed palace layouts including community rooms, random boss drops (so they won't always drop a key), random XP requirements, random stat effectiveness, random refill amount for the Life spell, random palace and overworld item placements (including P bags), random enemy drops (can include 1-Ups and keys), and random number of palaces to complete to open the Great Palace.

Another option in the Zelda 2 Randomizer is to play as all sorts of different characters besides Link. In this seed I'm playing as Miria, the player character from another NES game called The Guardian Legend (which is still on my list of games to play for this channel in the future!).
