This Oxygen Concentrator is designed to take the place of the external oxygen cylinders used for some types of health and beauty treatments. It is not designed for use in all cases and if you have any sort of medical condition you should talk to your doctor before using it.
The great advantage of this unit is that it can output a 90% concentration of oxygen from a unit smaller, lighter and easier to use than bulky and heavy oxygen cylinders. It works by taking in air, reducing the nitrogen content and then expelling it through the nozzle on the front. It can be used as it is to generally increase the oxygen in the room or through one of the two types of tubes included to deliver oxygen at up to 90% concentration directly to the user. It can be set to output at different levels, from 6L (30%) up to 1L (90%). It also has an optional Anion feature which releases negative ions to improve ambient air quality and a water tank to humidify the air.
A major selling point of the unit is that it is small and compact both to be carried around and for use in the car. A car power inverter is supplied which plugs into the vehicle cigarette lighter power outlet and allows a standard UK mains plug to be connected for devices of up to 200w in power. The carry strap supplied with the unit can be extended for use as a safety belt for the Oxygen Concentrator to keep it secure in the event of an emergency stop.
At 25.5 x 21.5 x 13.6 cm in size and weighing in at 6.6kg it is no lightweight but it’s not too heavy or bulky to carry and comes with a carry handle and strap to facilitate this. It is mains powered - there is no battery option - but it comes with a power adapter so it can be used in the car with the shoulder strap doubling as a seat belt for the device.
Looking at the front of the unit we see the humidifier water tank with unlock button and above it the remote control sensor. On one side is a speaker grill and air filter panel. On the back of the unit are the mains power switch, power input port, and two large air intakes with the carry handle above. The large backlit colour display panel on the top of the device offers soft-touch buttons for volume On/Off, Anion On/off, Timer, Oxygen Output Level, and SOS. Next to the buttons is the large display showing current operating levels in real-time. The remote control has buttons for Power On/Off, Anion One/Off, Oxygen Output Level, Timer, and SOS. When the device is switched off the pump stops at once but the fan will continue for a minute or so to protect the delicate internal mechanism.
It can be operated either from the large backlit front panel or from the credit card sized infrared remote control. Simply press the power button to turn it on and after a self-testing routine the device will begin operation according to the settings configured. In use, the device is by no means silent but I do not find it too noisy and after a while, the steady operation of the pump fades into the background. It is perfectly possible to converse, read or watch the TV with it in use.
I have tried it for general health benefits in my home, without using the supplied inhalation tube sets as I have no need for them, and can confirm just how well the Oxygen Concentrator appears to work with the air seeming to lift and feel brighter around the device. It is simple and easy to operate and seems reliable enough for long term use. As with all oxygen based devices be sure not to use it near open flames or spark generating electrical devices. Also, despite some reviews to the contrary, I have not found it excessively noisy but it will become much louder if operated on a desk, table or other acoustically amplifying surfaces. It is far quieter when placed on the floor.
At £347 it’s not inexpensive but it is well made, transportable and easy to use. I am not technically qualified to say how well it works but I can say that build quality is first rate and that it is simple and easy to use.
