Best Way to Embrace the Unknown - Begin with the End in Mind

Andy Andrews once stated that all of life’s grand prizes are surrounded by uncertainty. I can tell you firsthand that this is true. Many years ago I was coaching a young man and he asked me what would the most powerful lesson he could learn would be. I told him flat out that if one can’t learn to embrace the unknown that it will be very hard to enjoy the journey of life. Then he asked well how do I do it? I then gave him the quote that many thought leaders have put out. It reads essentially that who you become will be more important than anything you ever have or do. He then asked, well who do I become? I handed him a sheet with the title write your own eulogy as Steven Covey taught to always begin with the end in mind. He then asked how does this help me embrace the unknown? I said every situation now for the rest of your life you will see it happening for you and not to you as every situation will simply strengthen the characteristics you have said you will be remembered for. This is the best way to learn to embrace the unknown along with having amazing faith, hope, and love - the only things that truly last. Live out your eulogy and your self worth will be in a very happy place.
