Although one molecule of water has ten (10) positive protons and ten (10) negative electrons thus leading one to believe it is energetically neutral, the hydrogen atoms have a slight positive (+) charge. The oxygen has a slight negative (-) charge. This difference leads to what we call polarity. Polarity is a shifting balance between the two charges. Water is NOT as stable as one might think.
