The AK is loved and hated the world over. There's no doubt the rifle has had a profound impact on a global level over the 75 years it's been in production. The AK and more modern AKM's are still made using WWII technology and from what we've seen in the war in Ukraine, they're still be used many times with iron sights. Rarely do you see a Russian soldier with an AK-74M with an optic, light, laser, etc. Even their new AK12's are seen in the field without even a basic optic to increase hit probability. The AK doesn't lend itself well to mounting modern force multipliers despite the efforts of many countries and companies to update the rifle. So, we discuss if the AK really is a viable weapon for a 1st world country as its primary infantry rifle.
